Our new site has just gone live. For the moment, this site is a members-only site. And it will be a bit spare until we've added members. And until members get up to speed, adding new stories, news, etc. We will be processing members in the next few days, and getting the email news feed going this week.

As many of you know, the India Association of Rhode Island (IARI) has a new executive committee. While the email list has been silent due to technical issues, the committee has not been idle; we have been meeting and organizing different activities for our community.  Some details of this years agenda follow.

First, a brief reminder about the mission and purpose of IARI.

The following appeal comes to you from two of our members, Nancy Brant & GK Bansal. As many of you are aware, bone marrow matching is difficult without donors from the same ethnic community. For a Caucasian, the chances of getting a hit from the nationwide registry are 1 in 15 whereas an Indian American has a 1 in 20,000 chance of finding a match. At our last Diwali we held a donor drive to help Savita, in nearby Massachusetts, and we signed up many new donors without any cost to the donors.
